Super easy. Get this stuff:
- Sandpaper: 100-grit, 180-grit, 220-grit, 320-grit, 400-grit, 600-grit, 800-grit, and 1,000-grit
- Hardwood shims (not cedar!)
- Carpet tape
Cut the sandpaper and carpet tape to fit the shim. Be precise! It's easier to get clean lines now than to trim later.
Tada! Double sided sanding paddles. Make sure you practice holding them evenly and making smooth, steady movements as you coax the felt around the hammer head in layers . Tilting to the side while you are filing will produce a lop-sided hammer. For a full article on hammer filing, visit the repair page.
