Bridge Capping

This course is designed to cultivate and refine your skills as a bellyworker—that is, as an expert piano rebuilder—when it comes to re-capping bridges. Your instructor, Ken Eschete, will guide you through the entire process: from assessing the need to recap a bridge, to removing the bridge pins and old bridge cap, and from choosing, cutting, affixing, and finishing the new bridge cap, to reinserting the bridge pins. This course is intended for the advanced piano technician with some rebuilding experience, but any technician will benefit from taking this course. Though the course is taught online, you will be performing and documenting the process of the required steps and skills on your own practice jig at home.
