Approaching Concert Piano Preparation

Torben Garlin, C. Bechstein Director of Concert and Institutional Service, brings over thirty years of concert experience to his class, Approaching Concert Piano Preparation. In this class, Garlin teaches methods for engaging with concert artists and demonstrates techniques to achieve their desired touch and tone on the instrument. Hosted at Jordan Kitts Music in Fairfax, VA, this day-long event includes hands-on demonstrations of voicing, tuning, and regulation techniques on a C. Bechstein Model B, followed by a brief artist performance. This class offers a rare chance to experience C. Bechstein’s legendary technician training without having to go all the way to Germany! Proceeds from this class will fund a scholarship to send a technician to the C. Bechstein Technician Academy.
